Wyonics has been awarded a Phase I SBIR grant from the Department of Energy, part of a $72 million initiative supporting small businesses in scientific and clean energy projects. The grant is for developing technology to selectively extract and recover rare earth elements from uranium and thorium-bearing minerals. This initiative aims to create a sustainable and domestic supply of these critical materials, essential for various high-tech and energy industries, by addressing the inefficiencies and environmental challenges of current extraction processes. Wyonics’ efforts will help reduce U.S. dependency on foreign sources for rare earth elements. Wyonics was featured on the Department of Energy award announcement.
